What to Expect?
For Children:
We know there’s nothing quite like experiencing something first-hand, especially when it comes to our children’s education!
Based on the wonderful feedback from parents who entrusted their children to our preparatory course this year, we decided to enrich our Open Days with a DEMO LESSON: a bilingual lesson for all families interested in studying at Maple Bear at Kavčí Hory. Your future first-grader or preschooler will have a unique opportunity to spend an hour and a half with our experienced and caring teachers and explore the learning centers that form the foundation of our educational approach.
What can they look forward to? They’ll get to try what it feels like when the teachers speak to them in both Czech and English. The sample lesson will begin with a welcome circle, where the teachers introduce themselves and the children get to know one another. This will be followed by approximately an hour and a half of playful, meaningful, and age-appropriate activities designed for future kindergarten preparatory students (Grade 0) and first-graders (Grade 1). After the lesson, the children are welcome to keep playing — our after-school club and library will be fully available to them — or they can return to their parents.
For Parents:
While your child takes part in the model lesson, you will have the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the Maple Bear story — our philosophy, values, and approach to education.
Our Principal, Kristýna Sovinská, will share her vision for the school’s development as well as the experience she has brought to her role since taking it on in the spring of last year. Our Academic Coordinator, Renata Weir, will introduce you to the principles of the unique Maple Bear approach to education, explain how the Czech and Canadian curricula are integrated, and highlight the benefits this concept brings to children in practice. We will conclude the session with a guided tour of the school.
